Event description

"Orange Day 2023 Symposium" Event is Organised By Initiatives For Women In Need (IWiN), supported by South Asian Federation ACT (SAFACT), Multicultural Hub (MHUB) and Canberra Multicultural Community Forum (CMCF).

Let's Take Action Together - Canberra Community Says 'NO" to Violence Against Women

Free Refreshments and Parking provided to all attendees.

This symposium is OPEN to All Genders. MEN are particularly encouraged to participate to support their women, from family and friends network.

Let's take a step together to make our community Free from Violence Against our Women and Girls.

IWiN invites all interested members of the ACT Community to celebrate "Orange Day 2023 Symposium" on Saturday 25 November, as a part of the United Nation (UN) Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign “Orange the world”.

This Symposium includes an interactive PANEL Discussion on How to Say NO To Violence Against Women and Girls, and Build Resilience , to show support for the United Nation’s campaign.

Please join us to participate in this interactive Panel Discussion with experts coming from diverse backgrounds including support service providers, policy makers, change makers, entrepreneurs and women with lived experience.

The Symposium includes entertainment and activities for attendees to engage and network in a culturally safe environment.

The orange colour designated by the UNiTE campaign symbolizes a brighter future for women without violence. Every year on 25 November, UN adopted International Day of Elimination of Violence against Women, and Australia adopted White Ribbon Day campaigns, which are consistent reminders on how every day, women and girls experience violence in their lives. Most of the time, women and girls suffer from the abuses inflicted by their own near and dear ones within the family and our larger ACT community is no exception.

So, let's come together and take action collectively. Every action, small or big, matters.
